In recent years car usage along with usage of foreign cars are becoming more and more popular in Azerbaijan. It’s even seen that number of female drivers increases day by day.
Among all of the surveyed respondents only 6.7% drive a car. Among drivers 86.1% drive personal car, 4.9% drive office car and 9% drive a car by proxy. Still, car drivers mostly are males – 93.2%, females consist 6.8%.
Now is the most interesting part: which cars are mostly used in Azerbaijan? According to our TGI research results the cars that were being used during this survey are: 20.9% - VAZ 2107; 13.9% - Mercedes Benz; 10.7% - VAZ 2106; 5.7% - BMW; 4.3% - Chevrolet Niva; 3.7% - Azsamand etc.
Bridgestone, KAMA Euro and Michelin are most popular tire brands among drivers with 12.6%, 12.4% and 12.1% respectively. Continental is also popular with 11.3%. Car drivers are mostly aware of Castrol and Lukoil motor oils (17.2% and 16.7%). Mobil and BP (British Petroleum) are known by 14.6% and 14.2% of the respondents.
83.9% of the respondents independently make decisions on the issues related to cars. 21.3% listen to their relatives’ and friends’ advises. The least percentage belongs to those people who make decisions based on advertisements in newspapers (2.1%).
80.4% of the respondents are not planning to get a new car during the next 6 months. 12.7% plan to get a new car, while 6.9% plan to get used car. 16.2% of the respondents bought their ca through credit payment. 21.2% of the respondents bought their last car 3-4 years ago, 20.7% obtained it 1-2 years ago.
